Rope Escape Ladders vs Fixed Escape Ladders

There are a number of applications in which having an escape ladder could be the difference between life and death. They provide an extra escape route when all other ones are blocked. The question though is whether it is better to use a fixed escape ladder or a rope escape ladder. There are distinct advantages to each, which are conversely the drawback of the other option.

Rope escape ladders will take up a lot less space. They can be rolled up and put out of the way, even detached until they are needed. At which time they can be reattached and used. This functionality of rope escape ladders also addresses the other main problem that fixed escape ladders have. All too often an escape ladder could be used by intruders to gain entrance or to assist in entrance to your property, by being able to move the escape ladder out of the way, or remove it completely until it is needed you can sleep a lot sounder knowing that you have not provided an extra option for an opportunistic intruder.

The downside to rope escape ladders however is that they do not have the same stability that is given by a fixed ladder, the same flexibility that provides an advantage in other ways can easily become your downfall in an emergency. When every second counts you need to be able to get get down or up your ladder as fast as possible. A flexible ladder could make progress slower when you attempt to traverse it, especially if you are unfamiliar with its use; it could even mean that you would fall when rushing.

Looking aesthetically it becomes more down to personal taste, some people feel that rope escape ladders do not seem as imposing as a fixed ladder. And that they have more of a charming and rustic feel. Whereas some people feel that they do not feel as safe in seeing them, and that they prefer to see the solid fixed ladder because it represents something that is more professional.
